Abstract



This collection of primarily California-related materials was the provenance of Mrs. Walter K. Towers, with some materials from Berenice Towers. Over the span of more than forty years, they saved clippings, magazines, small publications, maps, and other ephemera chiefly on California with an emphasis on Southern California.

Abstract The Johnny Tolbert letters is a collection of 151 letters and four Western Union telgrams sent from United States Army soldier Johnny Tolbert (1924-1989), also known as Johnnie Clifton or J.C., to Ruth Mae Clennell (1925-2000) from San Pedro, California between 1943-1946. Tolbert met Clennell on September 2, 1943, the night before his deployment to the South Pacific. Thesa Jolly was an American volunteer of the Peace Corps in Korea from July 1972-1974. Her father, Donald Jolly, was a Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. This small collection comprises primarily correspondence, clippings, brochures, guides, memos, and articles relating both personally and professionally to Thesa and Donald Jolly.
